Benefit Cosmetics Beauty Score

I love Benefit.  The adorable packaging draws you in, the product keeps you coming back for more. Every Benefit product I use,  I've stumbled upon either by receiving a sample or as part of a cute travel size kit. It seems that lots of cosmetics companies are coming out with travel/try-me style kits, and I'm SO FOR IT!!!!  They make it way more affordable to try different products and play with lots of combinations. The Beauty Score is one of the best I've seen in a while - lots of stash for little cash. Just $34 for $88 worth of brightening, bronzing, blushing, concealing, and dew-ey-ness. If you have wanted to see what Benefit is all about, this is the way to find out.

Another Reason Keratin Treatments are Bad for Curly HAir - pt. 26385926

Post keratin and it turned her hair into dry mush. If that's even a thing. I guess it is, because I see if with keratin victims all of the time.  We fixed her all up with Ouidad Cleansing Oil, Curl Qeuncher Condish Moisture Lock leave in, Climate Control Gel and Shine Glaze. Jiggity.

Olaplex Results on Curly Hair

Olaplex bond multiplier has allowed me to push the boundaries with my coloring techniques, and deliver results to my guests faster than ever!  Lightening services can cause breakage and compromise the integrity of the hair, so I proceed with a gentle touch when it comes to these services, usually insisting my guests take it slow when trying to go a lot lighter.  Enter Olaplex, which has been getting intensive testing from baller level celebrity stylists like Guy Tang and Tracy Cunningham  for the past year, and has been released to us this summer. Can I just say I'M OBSESSED!   I love game changers, and Olaplex is on it's way to demigod status or more, IMHO.

Color Shield Oil Recipe

Planning a day outside in the summer sun?  Loading up curls with a leave in before you head out in helps keep them soft and tangle free. Try adding some natural oils to your leave in regimen to make it even more effective!

Mix these items the night before.  Add a tsp. The Red Raspberry oil to the dose of conditioner -it has UV protecting properties, which can help keep your color from fading or turning brassy. In a separate container, add a tsp. of Cucumber Seed Oil to a "serving" of your regular conditoner. Pop it in the fridge to chill. Cucumber Seed Oil has soothing and regenerative properties, it will feel amazing on a sun kissed scalp!

When you return inside for the evening, cleanse your curls and massage the chilled conditioner into your curls and scalp. Rinse out or leave in. Style as usual.

Curlformers Dupe! Magic Leverage First Impression Review! Naptural85

Do you guys recognize this voice? Naptural85 is the voice from the flax seed gel video that I tell everyone to watch before they try it at home! <3

This was very interesting. I do love curlformers - BUT, they can be expensive if you have to purchase multiple packs and you only plan on using them once in a while.  She thinks the dupes actually produce a better curl!!!!

Q-Redew Review: Using Steam For Healthier Hair

I adore! Watch the great video about the Q-redew steamer to refresh day 4 hair. She also uses it as a facial steamer, because the water only gets warm - not hot. This product is great for almost everyone. I highly recommend it for low porosity hair that needs that extra dose of moisture infusion.

Yet another reason why I loathe kertatin for curly hair!

Because for MOST types of curly hair, using keratin treatments results in a very confused and damaged looking head of hair. I didn't even do her color - she's just detoxed and hydrated and cut correctly for how she wants to wear her hair.

These Five Foods Can Keep Your Hair From Growing

Naturally posts the obvious (or is it) - avoid these 5 foods for maximum hair growth - and maximum health. None of these are shockers, but it's still a good reminder. Avoid these 5 foods in general, as much as possible.

Five Foods That Keep Hair From Growing

Cold Weather Treats for Curly Hair

When the weather is cold, and the humidity is low, humectants like glycerin can actually do the opposite of their intended use and cause dryness. A humectant draws moisture from the air, but when there is so little moisture in the air, it can actually draw moisture out of the hair and have a drying effect. I like Jessicurl and her Too Shea Conditioner and Deep Conditioning Treatment for cold weather hair dry - awfulness prevention - and also for LOW POROSITY HAIR in any climate, even with higher humidity. My usual faves, like DevaCare One Condition and Ouidad Moisture Lock are Glycerin heavy, but usually work well - even low porosity hair  - in our humid climate here in Florida. I live in a veritable sauna. Bible.

As always, you'll need to try them for yourself to see which works best for you!  Some of my low porosity clients have told me they use different products depending on the humidity. This is a small step to take to ensure a day (or 2, or 3) of happy curls.

Ouidad Superfruit Renewal Sulfate Free Clarifying Creme

Brand new from Ouidad, Superfruit Renewal is the first sulfate free cleansing creme dubbed as a clarifier.  It smells divine, has a rich lather. Is this ok for your curls?  As always, do your homework and decide for yourself!!! I've included the ingredient list below. As with any formulation that includes water, this product does include a preservative(s) to extend the shelf life and prevent bacteria. I have highlighted and linked the preservatives in red, to some information about them. Some people feel most comfortable when they are synthetic preservative free, and that is FINE!!!   Preservatives are used in very small concentrations, usually 1-2% or less, but only you can decide your comfort level. I would take this ingredient list over many of the harsher clarifying shampoos containing full on sulfates and parabens that are on the market today. For those of you who are wary, a good old baking soda wash or apple cider vinegar rinse should do the trick.
